Please let the coaches know if your are unable to attend by Monday night (9-6). Remember that unless the coaching staff excuses your absence, you will lose points. ALL Athletes will ride the bus to AND from the meet.

Meet Info

All runners need to be at HHS by 5:15am on Saturday monring - the bus will leave at 5:30am. The meet schedule is as follows:

We will be stopping for lunch on the way back so athletes need to bring money with them. We should be back to school by 2:30PM. All athletes will ride the bus to and from the meet.

Randolph School XC Classic, Huntsville, AL

The athletes will be leaving school at the end of 6th period like normal. They need to carpool to the meet location (UAH South campus) and be there by 2:40PM. This should not be a problem as our normal practice time is 2:30-2:40PM. This meet is very dirty and wet. My suggestion to parents and athletes is to bring a few garbage bags to put wet/ muddy things into. Make sure to bring a towel as well.

Course Information:
The course is all grass and is located on the BJHS Campus. Parking should be done in the north lots adjacent to Eastview Dr. utilizing the tunnel to access the course. Restrooms are located at the Baseball/Softball complex as well as one Portable Toilet located at the start/finish area. Team tents may be set up on the practice fields outside the course area. No bikes or ATV’s will be allowed on the course, with the exception of meet management authorized by BJHS.

There will be no junior high division however, junior high runners may
move up to the varsity race, but should know up front, they will be
competing against varsity competition.

Format:
The format for the team trial will be a little different than that of other races. The winning team will be determined by the lowest aggregate total time of the top ten runners on your team. Different from year’s past, the distance will be the regular 5k campus course, with the concept emphasizing the entire team putting up a good time and not just running for place. This format makes runners 6-10 time’s very important and gives them incentive to run for the team, more so than in a regularly scored meet. The first place team will receive t-shirts and the top 5 individuals will receive individual awards. There will not be any other awards given.

Meet Information

ALL ATHLETES BEING CHECKED OUT THIS THURSDAY FOR SECTIONALS!!! Our XC athletes are going to be dismissed from school after 4th period this coming Thursday (11-4-2010) at approximately 12:00PM. If the athletes have not already eaten, they will need to get lunch (something light, no greasy things.... Good examples: Subway, Panera Bread, McAllisters Deli, Jasons Deli... NO SODAS OR SPORTS DRINKS!!! only water) and then be at Bob Jones High School campus by 1:00PM. The girls race begins at 2:30PM and the boys race begins at 3:00PM. All athletes are expected to be at the meet supporting the team (even if they are not racing) unless they need to stay at school to attend classes. We will be taking role and any athletes leaving school but not attending the XC Meet will be turned in for skipping. This is a very important meet for our team because we must do well in order to qualify for the State Championships. Only the top 3 teams, and top 8 individuals outside of those teams will qualify for the State Championships. Please make sure to wear your HHS XC apparel.

Departure time: Meet at HHS parking lot @ 6:50AM and we will leave by 7:15AM. This will get us to the meet by 8:00AM.

We are not traveling by bus to this meet so we will need parent drivers! None of the athletes are allowed to drive to an out of county meet.

Return Time: We hope that we will be winning more trophies like last week so we want athletes to plan to stay through the award ceremony. We had 5 "top 15" finishes last week and a team trophy so let's see what we can get this week. We should be back to HHS between 12:30PM - 1:00PM.

Randolph School XC Classic, Huntsville, AL

Well, here we go with our busy week. Here are the details of our first meet of the week on Tuesday. This race is a bit different from any others in that it on the eurocross course at UAH. The kids will be running through water. T-shirts are being supplied to all of our runners, so they will not mess up their uniform tops. Everyone is asked to wear their uniform shorts. Stephen is going to try and be out there by 2:15pm or so. There will be no buses - kids will be responsible for their own rides. Students can drive since this event is within Madison county.

Date: Friday, September 18, 2009

Time: All runners will be excused from classes after 2nd period (10:01) - Buses will be ready. (There will be no announcements made, runners will just leave the building after 2nd period - their teachers will have a list of athletes that are excused)

Excused absence: Since this is a school function - all runners will have excused absences and teachers are required to allow for make-up work if necessary. We would highly suggest for the kids to speak with them ahead of time and perhaps make-up work ahead of time where possible.

Meals: Runners are asked to pack a lunch for the trip to Tuscaloosa. The booster club will supply drinks and snacks. The bus will stop on the return trip for dinner, so runners will need money for one meal and any other "extras" they may want to purchase while at the meet.

7 Runners will be running in both the girls and boys varsity race - silver division. All other varsity runners will be running in the Red division. (designated by Coach Stephen)

This is the largest meet in Alabama every year. There will be over 100 teams and the Decatur paper is predicting possibly over 4000 participants!!

We should be arriving back at school around 2:00pm. The plan is to go to Buffalo Wild Wings upon our return to Huntsville High for anyone that wants to join the crew.

Unlike the past few years, Daylight Savings Time will have ended and we will be on CST. This means it will get dark about 5:25 and earlier if it is cloudy and gray. With that in mind I have elected to start the race earlier in the day. The race will be starting before BJHS dismisses from school so the following information regarding parking is very important to you and your team. EVERYONE MUST ENTER CAMPUS AT THE SOUTH GATE WHERE THE GUARD SHACK IS LOCATED. The north gate will not be open till well after the races start. Do not go to the north gate and expect to have it opened. Also, remind parents that they will not be allowed to park on Eastview Drive. Busses will park around the track where they have in the past. Guests will be allowed to park in any available spot and should note that they will have to walk some to get to the course.

If the weather is a factor, I will make a decision by 12:30 and inform everyone via email. We will run in the rain. The only thing that would cancel the meet is lightening or tornado watches/warnings. Make note of the make-up scenario, next day, same times.
